October is an exciting month here at Nynehead Court, with the autumn season bringing plenty of events and activities for our residents and the wider community. From a visit to a local cider farm to our much-anticipated Autumn Concert, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We also have our annual Halloween trail, which promises spooky fun for children and their families. Here’s a look at what’s on through October at Nynehead Court.
A Taste of Somerset: Our Residents’ Visit to the Cider Farm
Nothing says autumn in Somerset quite like a visit to a traditional cider farm, and earlier this month, our residents had the opportunity to experience it firsthand. The trip was one of the highlights of the season so far, offering a chance to explore the local countryside and indulge in one of Somerset’s most beloved traditions.
Our visit began with a scenic drive through the rolling hills surrounding Wellington, with the trees already starting to turn their glorious shades of gold, orange, and red. Upon arriving at the cider farm, we were greeted with the wonderful sight of apples being harvested and pressed, the air filled with the sweet, earthy scent of fresh fruit.
Residents enjoyed a guided tour of the orchards, where we learned about the traditional methods of cider-making that have been passed down through generations. There was, of course, the chance to sample some of the farm’s finest ciders, which went down a treat! For those who preferred a non-alcoholic option, there was also the opportunity to taste fresh apple juice made from the same orchards. The day was rounded off with a visit to the farm shop, where residents could purchase some delicious local produce to bring back to Nynehead Court.
It was a fantastic outing, and many of our residents commented on how much they enjoyed the chance to experience such an important part of Somerset’s heritage. We’re already looking forward to the next outing, and we’re grateful for the generous donations that help make these trips possible.
Autumn Concert: An Evening of Music and Community Spirit
Music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday, 5 October 2024 as look forward to the annual Autumn Concert at All Saints Church, Nynehead. The event, starting at 6:30pm, promises to be a wonderful evening of live music featuring performances by The High Park Music Group (under 16s) and The Wellington Silver Intermediate Band.
The High Park Music Group, made up of talented young musicians under the age of 16, will kick off the evening with a vibrant set of classical and contemporary pieces. Their passion and enthusiasm for music are sure to shine through, and we are delighted to support these young artists as they share their talents with the community.
Following the High Park Music Group, the Wellington Silver Intermediate Band will take to the stage, offering a fantastic programme. The band has a rich history and is well-known for their stirring performances, and we are thrilled to welcome them back to Nynehead for this special concert.
Tickets for the concert are priced at £7.50 and are available from Nynehead Court. Refreshments will be on sale during the interval, and all proceeds from the evening will go to support All Saints Church. It promises to be a heartwarming evening of music and community spirit, so don’t miss out!
Nynehead Court Children’s Halloween Trail
Autumn wouldn’t be complete without a bit of spooky fun, and our Nynehead Court Children’s Halloween Trail is set to be as popular as ever! Running from Wednesday, 30 October to Sunday, 3 November, the trail is open daily from 11am until 4pm, with the last admission at 3pm.
Children and their families are invited to explore our gardens, where a spooky adventure awaits. Follow the clues and discover hidden surprises along the way, as our gardens are transformed into a Halloween wonderland. On the 30th and 31st of October, we’ll also be hosting special spooky crafts sessions in the Orangery from 2pm, where little ones can get creative with Halloween-themed arts and crafts.
This is always a favourite event, not only for the children but for our residents, who love seeing the excitement and joy on the faces of the young visitors. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and while entry to the trail is free, we gratefully accept cash donations, which go towards funding our residents’ outings, such as the recent cider farm visit.
