Flexercise: Moving Together, Laughing Together
As the days grow shorter and the air turns cooler, it’s more important than ever to keep our bodies moving. Every Tuesday morning, you’ll find our residents taking part in Flexercise—a gentle exercise session that’s as much about fun as it is about fitness. There’s something magical about coming together as a group, sharing a few laughs, and keeping those joints limber as the weather changes.
Our Flexercise sessions are designed to cater to all abilities, making sure everyone can join in, regardless of mobility. The exercises help ease those little aches and pains that sometimes come with cooler weather, but the best part? It’s the laughter and camaraderie that fill the room as we stretch, twist, and move together. For our residents, it’s a chance to feel energised, stay active, and start the week on a positive note—proof that staying healthy can be fun, especially when you’re surrounded by friends.
A Musical Evening at Nynehead Church
Saturday, 5th October was a special evening for us as we attended a concert at Nynehead Church, raising funds to support this beautiful local landmark. The concert, featuring performances by the HighPark Community Music Group and the Wellington Silver Intermediate Band, was a night to remember for all who attended.
Many of our residents were there, enjoying the music, the atmosphere, and the sense of community. The HighPark Community Music Group, run by Hilary Wickham and featuring talented musicians under the age of 16, delighted the audience with their performances. This was followed by the Wellington Silver Intermediate Band, conducted by Nick Gilding, whose stirring brass music filled the church with warmth and joy. Together, the two groups helped raise an impressive £427.50 to support the church—a cause close to many of our residents’ hearts.
At Nynehead Court, we believe that events like this not only offer a wonderful cultural experience but also give our residents the chance to be involved in the wider community. There’s nothing quite like sharing an evening of music with friends, knowing that you’re contributing to something meaningful.
Coffee and Doughnuts at Oake Manor: A Sweet Treat with Friends
Another highlight of our autumn calendar is our regular outings to Oake Manor for coffee and doughnuts. Nat, our friendly host, always greets us with a smile and makes us feel right at home. These outings are a simple pleasure, but they mean so much to our residents. It’s a chance to enjoy good coffee, delicious doughnuts, and even better company.
The conversations flow easily as we sit together, swapping stories and catching up. These outings are a reminder that life’s simple joys—a warm drink, a tasty treat, and time spent with friends—are often the most special. For our residents, these moments of connection are what make Nynehead Court feel like home.
John’s Respite Stay: Friendship and Fun
We’re always delighted to welcome new faces to Nynehead Court for respite stays, and recently, we had the pleasure of hosting John for a fortnight. John quickly settled in, enjoying everything our community has to offer. He made new friends, indulged in our delicious meals, and joined us for trips out, including the concert at Nynehead Church.
One of our favourite moments was seeing John enjoying the crisp autumn air during one of our morning outings. His smile said it all—he truly felt at home here. John’s stay was a reminder of the joy that comes from being part of a caring community. Whether it’s for a short break or a longer stay, Nynehead Court offers the comfort of home with the added bonus of new experiences and friendships. We’re already looking forward to welcoming John back whenever he wishes.
Baby Group Visits: Generations Sharing Smiles
Every Monday, we have the pleasure of welcoming the local baby group to Nynehead Court. The Orangery and our beautiful grounds come alive with the sounds of laughter and playful chatter as babies, toddlers, and their parents enjoy the space. For our residents, these visits are a highlight of the week. There’s something about seeing the youngest members of our community explore the gardens, giggle at the leaves, or reach for colourful flowers that brings a sense of joy and renewal.
It’s these intergenerational moments that make Nynehead Court such a special place. Watching the children interact with our residents, sharing smiles and moments of play, reminds us of the importance of community and connection, no matter our age.
