Nynehead Court has a long-standing reputation as one of Somerset’s most respected independent care homes. Set in 13 acres of peaceful parkland, just outside Wellington, we offer residential care, short-term respite stays and independent living in our neighbouring Mews bungalows. At the heart of the estate is a warm and close-knit team of carers, kitchen staff, housekeepers, activity coordinators and managers who work together to provide thoughtful and individualised support for every resident.
As a carer at Nynehead Court, you are not just completing a list of tasks. You are helping people feel safe, respected and valued. That might mean assisting with daily routines, providing companionship, supporting mobility, helping at mealtimes or simply being there when someone needs a listening ear. Training is at the heart of everything we do. All new carers receive a full induction, with practical training and time to get to know the home and the residents. We provide opportunities for ongoing development and always support staff who wish to undertake formal qualifications such as Health and Social Care Diplomas. You will not be left to figure things out alone. Experienced staff, team leaders and managers are always available to guide, advise and check in. We also understand that everyone’s availability and commitments are different. That is why we welcome applications to join our bank of staff. Being part of the Nynehead Court bank gives you the flexibility to work shifts that fit around your life. Whether you are looking to pick up occasional evenings, weekend work or regular days, our bank offers the opportunity to be part of the team without being tied to a fixed pattern.
Working on the bank is also a good way to get to know the home and consider a more permanent role in the future. Many of our long-term staff started this way, choosing over time to increase their hours or take on further training as they became more familiar with the role and the team. To be a good carer, you do not need specific qualifications to begin with. What you do need is a calm, reliable nature, a willingness to listen and learn, and a genuine interest in people. If you have these qualities, we will support you with everything else.
