As the summer sunshine softens the grounds of Nynehead Court into a peaceful blend of golden light and garden fragrance, our Teddy Bears Picnic promises to bring the community together for celebration, laughter, and memory-making.
Whether you’re visiting family, planning a prospective tour of the estate, or simply looking for a joyful way to spend an afternoon, July at Nynehead Court offers a glimpse into our vibrant, caring community. On Wednesday 9th July our gates will open wide for a Teddy Bears Picnic, an event that has grown into a summer favourite for residents, visitors, and guests alike.
Teddy Bears, Picnics and Playful Joy – 9th July
There’s something timeless about the image of a teddy bears’ picnic. A familiar comfort, a hint of nostalgia, and a big dollop of fun. On Wednesday 9th July, from 2pm until 4pm, our residents and guests will gather on the lawns for an afternoon of laughter, games, and furry friends, of the cuddly variety.
Open to all, the Teddy Bears Picnic invites you to bring along a picnic blanket, some sandwiches or snacks, and of course, your favourite teddy bear. This is one of those events where you’re never too old to join in. The charm of the occasion is in its simplicity, with friends and families coming together under the shade of our mature trees, with music, conversation and the gentle rustle of garden life in the background.
We are especially pleased to be joined once again by our friends from ‘Growing Minds’, a group whose presence always adds an extra spark of warmth and intergenerational connection. With garden games and informal entertainment, the atmosphere is relaxed and open-hearted, and children are especially welcome to take part in the fun.
For our residents, this event is a connection to childhood memories, shared laughter with new friends, and a chance to watch little ones play among the flowerbeds. It is these simple pleasures that form the fabric of community life at Nynehead Court, and we love to see our gardens enjoyed in such a joyful way.

Our events are not staged or formal, they’re part of the natural rhythm of life here. Residents who live in the main house, the Mews, or The Walled Garden are always welcome to take part as much or as little as they wish. Some help greet our guests. Others prefer to watch the festivities from a shady bench with a cup of tea. What matters is the choice, and the shared sense of being part of something bigger than oneself.
