Celebrating Excellence: Nynehead Court Staff Recognition Award
This spring, we are absolutely delighted to share that the latest Staff Recognition Award has been presented to not just one individual, but to the entire Nynehead Court team.
Residents, their families and visitors were all invited to nominate a team member who had made a special difference to their experience of life at Nynehead. But as the nominations came in, it became clear that there was no single name that could be picked from the rest. Instead, what shone through were the many heartfelt expressions of gratitude and praise for staff in every department: Care, Catering, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Gardens, Laundry, and Administration. As one resident put it, “I find it quite impossible to name individual members. All have done their best to remain cheerful and helpful, so the residents are content.”
So, in recognition of the dedication, warmth and tireless work shown across the board, the Directors made the decision to give the award to everyone. Every member of the team has played a part in maintaining our high standards of care and kindness, even through challenges of winter illnesses and staff shortages. This award belongs to each and every one of you—and it is very well deserved.
Many individual names were highlighted for the care, support and attention they offer, day in, day out. The kitchen team were frequently mentioned, with one nomination celebrating Shannon’s weekend cooking: “Shannon always cooks an excellent meal with panache and flair… she is meticulous in her preparation and clearance. I have found her cooking the very best.”
Sue, in our administration team, was warmly recognised for the many small but vital ways she supports residents. “Her presence has been greatly missed in recent days knowing she would always provide a stamp when needed or change a bank note for cash… a huge reassurance to me when my family were unable to visit.”
Among the care team, Fiona’s name came up several times, described as “always smiling, always helping, always busy,” while Deb was praised for her long-standing kindness: “She has been consistently kind, supportive and has always gone the extra mile. Her calm presence will be missed by my mother and myself.”
Our maintenance and gardening team were also celebrated. Justin’s “fantastic hanging baskets” and careful planting were appreciated by many, as was his willingness to stop for a chat and offer a helping hand. Jo from our laundry team received a particularly touching nomination describing her dedication, attention to detail and positive leadership style: “She puts in many long hours rushing here, there and everywhere… Jo is a devoted leader and dedicated to Nynehead’s causes.”
We were also touched by comments about the housekeeping team, where Michelle was mentioned for being “always so helpful and frequently doing tasks not normally expected of her,” and the laundry team were acknowledged for their efficiency and care.
It is perhaps Jenny’s nomination that most simply and beautifully sums up the atmosphere we strive to create at Nynehead Court: “Nothing is ever too much trouble. She feels like a very close friend. I trust her with my life—I don’t know what I would do without her.”

From the smallest act of thoughtfulness to the biggest moments of support and care, it’s clear that our team continues to go above and beyond every single day.
