As the vibrant colours of autumn sweep across the Somerset countryside, Nynehead Court, one of the best care homes in Somerset, has once again opened its doors between 21st September to 6th October, for Somerset Art Weeks Festival 2024. This year, the Orangery at Nynehead Court will be transformed into a gallery space that showcases the incredible talents of three exceptional artists: Lucy Rodgers, Sally Clark, and Catherine Hounsell. With their unique approaches to printmaking, painting and textile art, visitors are in for a visual feast that captures the beauty of everyday life and the world around us.

A Trio of Talented Artists
Nynehead Court’s Orangery will be home to the work of three very different artists during this year’s Festival. Each brings their own distinct style and perspective to the exhibition, creating a rich and varied showcase of mixed media, printmaking, and textiles.
Lucy Rodgers is an accomplished printmaker who works with reduction lino printing techniques to celebrate colour in everyday objects. Her pieces are bold and vibrant, capturing the beauty in the mundane—whether it be a simple fruit bowl or well-loved crockery. Through her use of rich colours and intricate layering, Lucy’s work draws the viewer in, inviting them to see the world through a more joyful and playful lens.

The Venue: Nynehead Court’s Historic Orangery
Nynehead Court’s Orangery provides the perfect setting for this exhibition. The Orangery itself is an historic part of Nynehead Court, with its charming architecture and peaceful surroundings making it an inspiring place to engage with art.
For those unfamiliar with the area, finding Nynehead Court is easy. From the M5, head towards Wellington and take a right turn at the Lidl’s roundabout. After about a mile, you’ll see a sign for Nynehead Court on your left, and the venue is just 200 yards from the turn. There is ample parking on-site, and the venue is fully accessible, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the exhibition comfortably.
