Residential Care

Welcome to Nynehead Court

Nynehead Court offers the best in gracious retirement living for retirees who no longer wish to live alone, or require residential care with help and/or support in daily living.

Residents enjoy all the advantages of living in a Grade 2* Listed country house which has been adapted to cater for modern day needs.

The private rooms are large and each is unique in style, with many enjoying spectacular views over the 13 acres of parkland and beyond to the Blackdown Hills. All rooms have their own en suites - some with baths and showers - and assisted bathrooms are available on each floor. We also provide free WiFi.

There are ample public rooms and facilities for different activities, ranging from elegant dining and drawing rooms and quiet studies, to converted stables adapted for hobbies and activities. Fresh floral arrangements and vegetables are grown in the walled garden and used in the house.

The Mulberry Wing

Completed in 2013, the Mulberry Wing offers support to those residents who suffer from memory impairment or require greater stimulation, with a higher ratio of staff to each resident.

The Wing is an integral part of the home and residents who feel able to share the facilities in the main house are encouraged to do so. However the Wing has its own dining, living and public rooms, where separate events and activities are held for those that would benefit from a more structured level of activity to that afforded in the main house.

Nynehead Court offers 24 hour care on a residential, respite or short stay basis, as well as day care. Care is provided by professional, locally employed staff, and is tailored to meet individual needs and encourage independence. Respite care allows regular carers to take a break and can be used either as a first step towards residential care or just as a one-off stay.

Nynehead Court is regulated and regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission. The Inspectors recently noted that residents said, "The girls are splendid, kind and caring", and "They are kind and gentle and have time for me."

The all-inclusive fee structure means that one never has to worry about additional costs. In addition to the costs of accommodation, meals and care, the fees also include aperitifs before dinner and wine with meals; therapies; activities; hobbies; escorted trips out for shopping, appointments, pub lunches and cream teas; use of the minibus, cars and buggies; and daily newspapers and journals.

Nynehead Court's varied activities programme is planned and organised by its dedicated activities team and includes trips to local places of interest as well as on-site activities which include art classes, exercise sessions, and visits by entertainers.

Local Community

Nynehead Care enjoys excellent links with the local community and the residents benefit from the outside company and varied activities which are held within the grounds of the Court, as well as the participation in daily routine with the owners of the mews houses. The Friends of Nynehead Court are particularly active and take great interest in bringing outside interest to the Court, as well as hosting regular drinks parties and social functions.

The 13th Century Parish Church adjoins the grounds of the Court and is used for regular services. One regular Sunday service is held in the drawing room of the Court each month, when the Parish community come into the Court.

Local groups and the Friends of Nynehead Court make use of the Orangery for public events, to which the residents of the Court are invited and where new interests are encouraged and new acquaintances made. An annual fete is also held in the grounds and regular tours and demonstrations are held in the gardens, all of which are enjoyed by the residents and bring even more variety to the Court.
