Halloween Trail at Nynehead Court

Our Famous Halloween Trail Returns to Nynehead Court

As the leaves turn golden and the evenings grow darker, Nynehead Court is preparing to welcome families and friends back for one of our most popular seasonal events. Our famous Halloween Trail will be taking place again this year, bringing with it plenty of fun, creativity, and a touch of spooky magic for all ages to enjoy.

The Halloween Trail will run from Monday 27th October to Friday 31st October, with the grounds open between 11am and 4pm each day. Visitors will be able to follow a specially prepared trail through our 13 acres of gardens and parkland, transformed for the season with pumpkins, cobwebs, and ghostly surprises hidden among the trees and flowerbeds.

This is an event that has become a firm favourite on our calendar, attracting families from across the Wellington area and beyond. Children delight in following the clues, spotting decorations, and completing the spooky route with friends, while parents and grandparents enjoy the festive atmosphere, the chance to explore the gardens, and the smiles of little ones as they complete the trail.

To make the experience even more special, there will also be Halloween crafts taking place in The Orangery on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th October from 2pm to 4pm. These sessions are always popular, offering the chance for children to make their own seasonal decorations, from painted pumpkins to ghostly masks and creative collages. Guided by our friendly activities team, the craft afternoons provide the perfect way to take home a memento of the day and to encourage a little seasonal imagination.

One of the reasons the Halloween Trail is so well loved is that it provides a safe, family-friendly way to celebrate the season. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and the gentle design of the trail makes it suitable for a wide range of ages. Whether you are bringing toddlers for their first Halloween outing, or older children looking for an engaging activity during half-term, the event is inclusive and welcoming.

We also encourage visitors to come in costume if they wish. Over the years we have welcomed witches, wizards, ghosts, skeletons, and even the odd superhero or two. Dressing up adds to the festive atmosphere and creates wonderful opportunities for family photos among the autumn colours of the gardens.

While the trail and crafts are free to enjoy, donations towards our residents’ activities fund are very welcome. These contributions help us continue to provide a lively calendar of events throughout the year, from music afternoons and garden tours to coffee mornings and seasonal celebrations. Supporting the fund means that by joining us for Halloween, you are also helping enrich the daily lives of our residents.

The Orangery itself will also be open during the trail, offering a chance to pause and enjoy refreshments in a warm, welcoming space. Whether it is a cup of tea for adults or juice and biscuits for the younger visitors, it is the perfect place to catch your breath after a busy trail around the gardens.

For our residents, the Halloween Trail is a highlight too. Many enjoy seeing the grounds filled with visitors, hearing the laughter of children, and watching the creativity of the crafts sessions. The event creates moments of connection between our home and the wider community, bringing together people of all ages in the shared joy of the season.

The setting of Nynehead Court makes the trail especially memorable. With its historic house and expansive gardens, the estate lends itself beautifully to a seasonal transformation. Trees become hiding places for decorations, pathways lead to surprises, and every turn offers something new to discover. The natural beauty of the gardens, combined with the playful touches of Halloween, creates a unique atmosphere that is both enchanting and fun.

If you have never joined us for our Halloween Trail before, this is the perfect year to start. Whether you are looking for a family day out, an activity to fill the half-term holiday, or simply a chance to enjoy the gardens in their autumn colours, you will find a warm welcome at Nynehead Court.

We are proud that our Halloween Trail has become such a beloved tradition, and we look forward to sharing it again this year. Gather your family, put on your costumes, and come along for a day of seasonal fun in the heart of Somerset.
