Nynehead Court is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join the team in a part-time role that brings real enjoyment, connection and purpose to daily life within the home.

The successful candidate will help to plan, organise and deliver a varied programme of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents across the care home and assisted living environment. These may include arts and crafts, games, music sessions, light physical exercise and other opportunities for shared enjoyment and stimulation. The role also involves supporting residents to take part comfortably and safely, encouraging participation in a way that feels natural, respectful and reassuring.
This is a role that would suit someone with a genuinely caring nature and a good understanding of how meaningful activity can enhance quality of life in later years. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Activity Assistant will spend time speaking with residents, understanding their preferences and helping to create an atmosphere in which people feel confident to join in.
Working closely with care staff will also be an important part of the role, especially in helping to monitor residents’ wellbeing during activities and adapting plans where needed.
Nynehead Court is looking for someone who can help create a warm and sociable environment, where shared moments can brighten the day and where residents are supported as individuals.
There will also be occasions where personal care support is required, so a thoughtful, flexible and dependable attitude will be important throughout.
Previous experience in a care home or assisted living setting is preferred, and knowledge of dementia care would be especially valuable. The role calls for someone who can work well as part of a team while also using their own initiative to bring fresh ideas and a positive spirit to the activity programme. Empathy, patience and a calm, encouraging manner are qualities that matter greatly here.
The position is part-time, at 20 hours per week, with flexibility built into the role. This will include weekends on a rota basis, and Nynehead Court will also consider job share. The rate of pay is £12.71 per hour. A clean full driving licence is required, and an Enhanced DBS check may also be needed.
