A Wonderful Start to the Festive Season at Nynehead Court
This year’s Christmas celebrations at Nynehead Court began with two much-loved events, each bringing together residents, families, friends and members of the local community. Both the Christmas Craft Fayre and our Wreath Making Workshops were very well attended and filled the house and gardens with warmth, creativity and festive spirit.
Christmas Craft Fayre in The Orangery
Held on Sunday 30 November, the Christmas Craft Fayre transformed The Orangery into a cheerful winter market. The room was filled with stalls offering handmade gifts, jewellery, candles, soaps, knitted and crocheted items, dried flower arrangements, bookmarks, seasonal decorations and many other thoughtful creations. Visitors enjoyed a relaxed morning browsing unique, artisan pieces, many of which had been made by local craftspeople.
There was a lively atmosphere throughout the morning, with residents chatting with stallholders, families choosing Christmas gifts and guests taking their time to enjoy refreshments from our kitchen team. The raffle and tombola proved popular too, helping to add to the festive cheer. The event not only showcased local talent but also brought together the wider community in a meaningful way. Residents particularly enjoyed the sense of occasion, the music playing gently in the background and the steady flow of happy visitors.
Wreath Making Workshops
Our Wreath Making Workshops on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December were also a great success. Both sessions were fully booked, and The Orangery became a hub of creativity as participants worked with fresh foliage, ribbons, berries and festive embellishments to craft their own Christmas wreaths.
Each workshop began with a warm welcome, a festive drink and Christmas nibbles, setting the tone for an enjoyable afternoon. Guided by our team, guests learned how to build their wreaths from scratch, selecting materials to suit their own style. Some preferred traditional greens and red ribbons, while others created natural designs with dried oranges, eucalyptus and pinecones. The results were varied and beautiful, and the sense of satisfaction in the room was clear as wreaths were proudly held up for admiration.
Residents who joined the workshops commented on how relaxing and uplifting the activity was. For many, creating something by hand brought back fond memories of Christmas preparations from years gone by. The workshops also encouraged conversation, shared moments and laughter, making them as enjoyable socially as they were creatively.
A Community Brought Together
Both events captured the essence of Christmas at Nynehead Court: community, creativity and a warm sense of belonging. They offered residents opportunities to connect with others, enjoy new experiences and take pleasure in the season. Families expressed gratitude for the welcoming atmosphere and were delighted to see their loved ones so engaged and happy.
As we move further into the festive period, these events have set a joyful tone for the celebrations still to come.
