A Warm Winter Welcome Awaits at Nynehead Court
As autumn fades and the festive season draws near, Nynehead Court is filled with warmth, companionship, and the anticipation of a busy calendar of activities and celebrations. Whether you’re considering a short-term respite stay in Somerset, or looking for a permanent move into residential care, there’s no better time to experience life here than during the coming months. We are now inviting bookings for stays throughout November, Christmas, and into January, a perfect opportunity to make this winter a time of comfort and connection.
Life at Nynehead Court is rich in variety, and the November and then festive activities programme is a wonderful reflection of that. Residents enjoy a full and engaging calendar, designed to nurture wellbeing, spark creativity, and bring people together. From musical afternoons and poetry readings to gentle fitness sessions and trips to local attractions, there’s always something to look forward to.
Music continues to be one of the highlights of life here. This month, residents will enjoy performances from the tenor Greg Steward, an afternoon of opera with Monty, and a lively visit from the Wiveliscombe Community Choir, whose harmonies fill the Drawing Room with festive cheer. For those who enjoy learning, talks from visiting speakers explore topics such as Somerset heritage and the fascinating life of Captain Cook. These sessions bring knowledge and storytelling into the home, stimulating conversation and curiosity.
For residents who prefer more hands-on activities, there are regular opportunities to get creative. Tiffin making, flower arranging, and therapeutic art sessions encourage imagination and personal expression, while group games like Bingo, Play Your Cards Right, and Giant Crossword Fun add plenty of laughter to the week. Gentle exercise is also woven into the routine, with Flexercise and Physical Fun & Games helping residents to stay active and energised in a relaxed, social setting.
Our Film Club is a favourite too, offering classic films and heartwarming stories in the comfort of the Drawing Room – the perfect way to spend a cosy afternoon as the weather turns colder. Regular church services, both in-house and at nearby Nynehead Church, provide moments of reflection and community worship for those who wish to attend.
As the festive season approaches, residents can also look forward to one of our most anticipated events, the Christmas Craft Fayre on Sunday 30th November in the Orangery. This event brings together local craftspeople and friends of the home, offering a chance to browse handmade gifts, decorations, and seasonal treats. It’s the perfect way to start the countdown to Christmas, all while enjoying the company of residents, staff, and members of the community.
Throughout December, we will be hosting a series of Christmas activities and celebrations, from wreath-making workshops and musical performances to delicious festive meals prepared by our talented kitchen team. Each event is designed to capture the joy of the season and to ensure that every resident feels part of a warm and vibrant community.
Booking a respite stay during this time offers the perfect opportunity to experience the comfort and companionship of Nynehead Court. Guests can take part in our activities, enjoy the same high-quality dining and care as our residents, and see first-hand what makes our home so special. For couples, we also have rooms available that allow you to stay together while benefiting from personalised support and care.
Our values of kindness, respect, and genuine care run through everything we do. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a home where you are known by name, your preferences are understood, and your wellbeing is our priority. Every member of staff takes pride in making residents and guests feel part of our extended family. Whether it’s sharing morning coffee in the Orangery, joining a trip to Wellington School’s Remembrance Service, or simply enjoying the tranquillity of our gardens, you will find that each day brings comfort and connection.
